Mustafa, the Bey of Algiers, is looking for a new wife and fancies that she should be Italian. As luck would have it, an Italian girl is shipwrecked on the Algerian coast and a delighted Mustafa decides that she will make the perfect addition to his harem. However, he gets a lot more than he bargained for when Isabella discovers that her long-lost lover Lindoro has also been enslaved by the mighty Bey. The wits of our protagonists are pitted against each other with hilarious consequences, until order is finally restored with happy unions and reunions.
