RIGOLETTO | GIUSEPPE VERDI
Summary
Verdi’s powerfully vivid score tells a tale of corruption and betrayal in the 16th century court of the Duke of Mantua. The strenuous efforts made by Rigoletto, the Court jester, to shelter his daughter from the decadence of court society inadvertently lead to her murder. Both beautiful and shocking, Rigoletto is undoubtedly one of the greatest and most popular operatic tragedies ever written.
